Marilyn Monroe is a women that has inspired women around the world, a woman who has set the tone and laid out the carpet for many of the celebrities that we have today. This is a woman who is still recognized and idolized 51 years after her death, a woman who still graces the covers of magazines and newspapers. One of most desirable women of her time as well as the current time, Ms. Marilyn Monroe is the most radical change agent of all time. I believe that If there is a person who has not heard of Marilyn Monroe is completely disconnected from society. There has been songs in dedication decades after her death from artists like Elton John to female rapper sensation Nicki Minaj. Marilyn has inspired celebrities like Madonna, Anna Nicole Smith, Christina Aguilera and dozens more. There has been numerous movies and documentaries made and still being filmed about Marilyn. A box office hit that came to theaters in 2011 called “My Week with Marilyn” starring well known actress Michelle Williams. Recently added to the list is the documentary that aired on HBO in the summer of 2013 named “Love, Marilyn”. This featured stars like Glenn Close, Lindsay Lohan, Uma Thruman, Viola Daris and countless others expressing Marilyn’s impact on them and reading letters from the late starlet. Still today millions are fascinated by the troublesome life lead by Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn won many awards including a couple golden globes, she starred in 30 films and started her own production company which she name Marilyn Monroe productions. Marilyn was also nominated for numerous of other awards. Marilyn Monroe also believed in the civil rights movement, she made it possible for jazz icon Ella Fitzgerald to be the first black artist in a “white only” club. Marilyn made this happen by telling the club owner that Ella Fitzgerald was her favorite singer and promising that if he allowed her to sing in his club that she would attend his club every night for a week and sit in the front row. This was a promise that Marilyn kept, Ella even stated that she owed Marilyn a real debt because after that she never sang in a small time jazz club again. Some may disagree but Marilyn Monroe is known for being a beautiful disaster, but this also is another reason why she is the most radical change agent. Marilyn has intrigued millions by her life. She was the first famous woman to turn sexiness into an art form. It’s true that we cannot say that she was the best singer or actress of her time even though she strived for these goals. I deeply believe that Marilyn Monroe's highlight was her ability to be human in the spot light, Marilyn was not the smartest or the most loveable woman. Marilyn made countless mistakes and was held accountable and judged daily for them, she faced problems that women face every day. She was in and out of homes, had a mentally-ill mother, absent father, failed marriages and was even emotionally and mentally damaged but she lived this life in front of the world. What people loved most about Marilyn is that she never gave up for what she wanted, she always strived for greatness. Without the events that took place in Marilyn’s life we would not admirer this legend the way we do today. Marilyn Monroe has had a great influence in my life she has made me feel comfortable not being a size zero, being that she was adored for her curvy size 14 body. She has made me feel good about showing skin and not being criticized for it, she has taught me to enjoy little things in life like trying something daring or a short romance. Most importantly Marilyn has shown me that it is perfectly fine to be imperfect, to follow my heart and chase my dreams no matter what the circumstances are. Marilyn Monroe was born into this world as a human being and left as a Goddess. This is how all women should want to leave, all women should leave the world with something amazing to remember. This is why i believe that Marilyn Monroe is the most radical change agent of all time, she became something out of nothing, she gave inspiration to millions of woman all over the world. Marilyn taught us to smile through the pain and to enjoy every bit of being a woman but to be the woman that you want to be.
"She was a woman who knew how to be happy even when she was sad, And that's important."
