Most importantly Marilyn has shown us that even the most powerful or the ones on top are human too! Marilyn wasn't scared to love who she wanted or to cry in public. She showed the world that she had a heart, that she was afraid of what people would say and think about her but this didn't stop her. Marilyn made mistakes but she never gave up on the thing she wanted more than anything, which was love, Marilyn Monroe was fearless.
Experience:
Marilyn Monroe has the experience to a radical change agent because she was a woman who changed the view of the "expected" role for women of her time. Marilyn wasn't a great cook nor did she keep a clean home or dressing room. She was a working class white woman who became a world-wide superstar. Marilyn used her body the way she wanted to, she was a very sexual woman and she loved every minute of it. She posed nude for pictures, she spoke her mind, she wrote poetry, and read books. Despite what people may think Marilyn was no dumb blonde. Marilyn set the tone for slightly bigger women to model, to become actresses and to feel sexy. Marilyn challenged film directors, telling them she didn't want to play "dumb blonde roles", and stating that she was tired of playing the hyper sexual woman that her character usually played. Marilyn also was active in the civil rights movement, she helped jump start Ella Fitzgerald's career when telling the white-only club owner that if he booked her she would be present in his club everyday for a week, this was a promise that she kept. Marilyn was a woman who demanded respect and she wanted to be taken seriously by her counter parts. Marilyn didn't want people to look at her as just a pretty or a curvy body but she did still want them to look.
